The exhibition works with both well-known photographs and exclusive, previously unexhibited material which entered the collections of photography and new media of the Moravian Gallery in Brno several years ago from Svoboda's estate. The newly acquired photographs, and the archive of Svoboda's negatives and paper documents has created a context which reduces the monumental stature of the artist and his uniqueness, features which have lost their strength in the contemporary dialogue anyway. The exhibition shows how the artist worked, in moments when things were still open to change. The exhibition suggests that beneath the surface of the photographs stories are hidden which reveal different plotlines than we have come to expect.
