Artotheks as a Means of Education and Cultivation of the Public and the RNA of Visual Art

THE PROJECT IS SCHEDULED FOR THE PERIOD FROM 1/9/2018 TO 30/9/2019

The principal aim of the project is to popularise the artotheks - public institutions lending original works of art operating on the principle of libraries - as well as the professionalisation of already existing artotheks; the exchange of know-how in the area of artothek management and increasing Czech-Austrian co-operation at the expert level (establishing and intensifying collaboration between the artotheks in Vienna, Krems, Linz and Brno). In addition to the meeting of the representatives of the artotheks listed above, an international colloquy on the subject of artotheks will be held in the Moravian Gallery in Brno in the spring of 2019 aimed at both professionals and the general public.

The primary outputs of the project will include specialised methodological material for artothek staff, concepts of educational programmes using accompanying artothek literature and educational materials (worksheets and videos) which serve for the better mediation of art.

The Artotheks as a Means of Education and Cultivation of the Public and the RNA of Visual Artproject is undertaken as part of the FMP Austria - Czech Republic programme with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic.
