Awarded and nominated books from the 54th edition of the Most Beautiful Czech Books 2018 competition will be presented, in the tradition of previous years, in the Library of the Moravian Gallery.
The international jury has selected and awarded more than 30 titles from 234 applications in seven basic competition categories. The winner in the specialised literature category was the bookCo je designér: věci, místa, sdělení (What Is a Designer: Objects, Places, Messages)published by the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the Department series. The first prize in the Art Book category went to a book of photographs with comments by the author - the Czech designer Epos 257 -Kořeny, větve, šlahouny (Roots, Branches, Sprouts)published for an exhibition in the Galerie Trafačka. Its position in the field of children's literature was again confirmed by the Baobab publishing house with three prize-winning books. The remaining prizes were awarded in highly specialised categories.
During the year the nominated and awarded books were presented for the first time in the gallery of Czech design - CZECHDESIGN - and at book fairs abroad.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue, this year with graphic design by Petr Bosák, Robert Jansa and Adam Macháček.
The Most Beautiful Czech Books 2018 competition was organised by the Czech Ministry of Culture and the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague.
