The exhibition will introduce 18th century Baroque portraiture in its different forms. The leading protagonist of this important type of painting in Central Europe was Johann Kupezky (1666-1740), whose work will be represented by several items. The selection and iconographic orientation of the paintings by Kupezky and other artists who were either the Master's pupils or created in a similar style will unfurl, in front of the visitors, a world of prestige-craving artists and splendour-loving aristocracy, of which many added their shine to the imperial court in Vienna.
Visitors to the exhibition will come across the different painterly styles and mannerisms of well- and lesser known 18th century artists, such as Johann Gottfried Auerbach, Petr Brandl, Gottfried Eichler, Maximilian Hanl, Martin van Mytens the Younger, Franz Anton Palko, Andrea Pozzo, Francesco Trevisani, Paul Troger and others.
