Friedrich Ohmann was one of the most important architects in Central Europe in the period around 1900 and his numerous works are dispersed along the Split - Magdeburg axis. Between 1899 and 1907 he was in charge of building an extension to the imperial residence in Vienna and from 1904 he was professor of architecture at the Viennese Academy of Fine Arts. Although he held positions of honour in society he enjoyed the reputation of a modern artist.
