Rudolf Koppitz

Rudolf Koppitz (1884-1936) is one of the most important Austrian artists of Czech origin. He belongs amongst the outstanding figures of traditionalist "art photography", who, in spite of the avant-garde exploits of that time, often referred back to Art Nouveau and Symbolism. The most striking are his staged, often multi-figural nudes full of symbolic references, although his landscapes and photographs from the peasant life in the countryside are equally worthy of attention.

His first monographic exhibition in the Czech Republic accompanied by a catalogue with a comprehensive overview of the life-long work of the artist, who can justifiably stand side by side with the leading proponents in the history of Czech photography, was prepared by the Austrian photography historian Monika Faber.

Rudolf Koppitz is an exhibition prepared by the Moravian Gallery in Brno in collaboration with the Photoinstitut Bonartes.

DE Die Ausstellung ist ein Kooperationsprojekt des Photoinstitut Bonartes und der Moravská galerie Brno.
