Is the essence of a work of art identical in all expressions of visual culture or does it differ depending on the period of its origin? In what way do works of medieval masters appeal to us? Are they really so much different from the Gestural Painting or Art Informel canvases of the 20th century? Is the divide between the individual forms of art deep? Works of art are often able to speak about the same thing using different means. The long-term project called Rendezvous, based on the intentional confrontation of works spanning various periods, genres and techniques, aims to initiate a lively dialogue between the individual works and undermineentrenched schematic thinking.
