The collection of faience from Holíč is one of the most numerous in the country in terms of quality and size and was essentially enhanced by a set from the collection of František Kretz (1859-1929), recorded in the acquisitions of the Moravian Gallery in Brno in 1928. The collecting passion of the first custodian and director of the museum in Uherské Hradiště, journalist and teacher František Kretz received accolades by his contemporaries. His collection included several thousand items, especially folk embroidery and ceramics, documenting the sophistication of folk crafts and factory production.
