The all-round talented photographer and chemist Vladimír J. Bufka influenced, from his 21 years when he started publishing his photographs and texts, Czech photography and competed even with František Drtikol.
Bufka's works merge Art Nouveau symbolism with the "naturalism" of the snapshot and Impressionism. He was a master of the new technology of three colour rubber print which was then considered especially suitable for art photography. Unfortunately, he met an untimely death at 29 years of age.
