Hans Makart, one of the most important 19th century painters, is presented in the exhibition as a collector of applied art. Luxurious furniture and metal objects are accompanied by photographs from his studio and photogravures depicting the ceremonial procession, designed by Makart, held in Vienna in 1879 on the occasion of the silver wedding anniversary of the Emperor and his wife.
