The project which loosely follows in the tracks of Flourish / Contemporary Art from Wales will present a quintessential cross-section of contemporary Taiwanese art. In the series the Moravian Gallery in Brno continues to explore the creative potential of regions which from a traditional European or American point of view are seen as being on the edge of the global art scene. In reality, the "peripheries" offer remarkable artistic achievements reflecting, in an original way, the clash between global trends and local traditions, flavoured by a specific historical, cultural and political experience. Many big cities in East Asia play an increasingly important role in providing a platform for contemporary world art ? they have become a regular location for large shows - and they hold a respected position in the world art market. This large group exhibition of contemporary art from Taiwan which will include artists of world-renown is prepared by the Moravian Gallery in Brno in collaboration with the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague.
