The establishment of the Francis Museum (later the Moravian Museum) in 1817 was faciliated by educated and progressive Moravian aristocrats donating artworks and precious objects from their own colections.
Among these art collectors and patrons, the Italian Count Odoardo III Collalto e San Salvatore (1747-1833), Count Friedrich Silva Tarouca (1816-1881) and the Austrian Count Johann II von Liechtenstein (1840-1929) appear as the most significant. The exhibition presents some of the oldest items in the Moravian Gallery collections.
