HANDWRITING EXCHANGE, a project by Jiří Skála (*1976), is based on a continuous three-month performance of two protagonists. Its starting point is an encounter of two individuals exploring their identities in communication and through the imitation of the other person’s handwriting.
The project can end in different manners. Lightness of the originally intended simple exchange of handwriting does not have to go beyond the limits of mere playfulness of the imitation; on the other hand, it can turn into an identification probe into one's personality, with a possible shift towards equality of two individuals.
