Dušan Jurkovič. The Architect and His House
Venue: Jurkovič House (Jana Nečase 2, Brno-Žabovřesky
The house of the architect Dušan Jurkovič in Brno-Žabovřesky is open for visits during the summer months. The building from 1906 is an outstanding example of modernist architecture inspired by British and Viennese design with elements of folk art. Visitors can indulge in the out-of-the-ordinary ambience of the house and its garden. The central staircase hall has been restored to an almost authentic state and the drawing room has been furnished with Jurkovič's original furniture from Molitorov Chateau. The permanent exhibition presents an overview of the work of Dušan Jurkovič in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
