The Archive of the Moravian Gallery in Brno was established on January 1, 1998. The Moravian Gallery in Brno was granted accreditation for the performance of a specialized archive on the basis of Act No. 499/2004 Coll. on archiving and file service, and on the amendment of some laws by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic as of 11 December 2006. The Archive of the MG is located in Brno-Řečkovice, Tereza Nováková 64a.

The archive performs in particular the following
activities:
- administration of the Central Registry and supervision of the
performance of the file service in the Moravian Gallery in
Brno
- selection of archival records within the appraisal process and
beyond
- registration and professional processing of archival collections
and archives, including archival materials deposited at the
specialized departments of the Moravian Gallery in Brno
- making archive collections and collections in the direct
administration of the archive available to the Moravian Gallery in
Brno and to public researchers
- research into the history of the Moravian Gallery in Brno and
its legal predecessors
Archival collections and collections are accessible for research in accordance with the archive law, based on prior arrangement by telephone or mail. Archival aids to the archive files or their processed parts are available to interested parties in the archive research room and the library of the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
