Brno Museum Night 2010
15/5-15/5/2010
On Saturday 15th
May the public will be offered, for the sixth time, an
opportunity to taste this original cocktail of art, culture and
discovery - the Brno Museum Night. On this
night from 18.00 until midnight there will be free entry to more
than thirty galleries, museums, as well as libraries and churches.
Special invigorating ingredients in the form of interesting
exhibitions and a rich accompanying programme have been put
together by sixteen institutions in Brno and its surroundings. The
complete programme of events is available at www.brnenskamuzejninoc.cz
The Moravian Gallery in Brno, again responsible for coordinating
the event, has prepared an accompanying programme based on nine
currently running exhibitions. The Museum of Decorative Arts of the
Moravian Gallery, the ground floor of which is packed with
world-renowned "Thonet" chairs from bent wood, will organize an art
workshop entitled A Chair for Everyone, dedicated to the
phenomenon of bent wood furniture. The Pražák Palace, with displays
of contemporary art, will host the Fiordmoss and Zrní music
ensembles. Visitors will undoubtedly be pleased to find catalogues
and publications on sale at bargain prices.
During the museum night you can use a free shuttle bus
service provided by the DPMB public transport company that will
take you to the exhibition buildings outside the city centre as
well as to Rajhrad, Prace and Předklášteří.
Given the ongoing construction work in Moravské Sq and on Joštova
St the main shuttle bus service terminal has been shifted to
Komenského Sq this year and please note - due to the
works the doors of the Governor's Palace of the Moravian Gallery in
Brno will unfortunately not be opened to visitors during the museum
night.
