Jak se dělá galerie

A richly illustrated book (in Czech) that will introduce young readers to the world of museums and galleries. The illustrator David Böhm, along with the authors of the text Ondrej Chrobák, Rostislav Koryčanek, and Martin Vaňk, will give children a glimpse into the history of the galleries and tell them how to exhibit the artwork, what the gallery offers, and how an exhibition is created. The reader will learn, among other things, what treasures the emperor Rudolf II was hiding in Prague Castle, and that even a sprawling bed and a shark loaded with alcohol can be considered as distinct works of art. Find out how the gallery works and who works in it. After reading this book, the children in the gallery cease to look at it as a boring and inaccessible building, but they begin to perceive it as a place where lots of interesting things happen and where they can experience unexpected encounters and uncover stunning stories.

The book was published by the Moravian Gallery in Brno with the financial support of Erste Private Banking. The realization of the book was also supported by the Fait Gallery and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. The book is the output of the Center for New Strategies of the Museum Presentation at the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
