May 2009 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jindřich Svoboda, a renowned Brno bookbinding artist. This autumn marks eight years since his death. He's name was associated with the Czech bookbinding for over seventy years, in the course of which he became an acclaimed artist-bookbinder and both a professional and moral authority in the bookbinding community. The MG kept track of his work from the very beginning. The body of his work in the collection of bibliophile prints and bookbinding amounts to over a hundred pieces and is the most important series of the artist's output in public and private collections in the Czech Republic.
