In his multi-media works Grzegorz Sztwiertnia consistently and subversively thematizes the unspoken presuppositions about modern art, exposing the illusions of its social functions and the danger of schematic or ideological interpretation of a work of art.
Sztwiertnia is a generational predecessor of the now globally recognized Polish artists such as Wilhelm Sasnal, Oskar Dawicki and Paweł Althamer, whose output, without his example, would be devoid of any frame of reference.
